I'm guessing you still have an AL-335?
I assume its metric or you wouldn't need a Z gear
Got a picture of your threading chart?
If its the same as mine
Z gear is 48
24-120-127-48 A2 MII

Girl, I don't wanna know about your mild-mannered alter ego or anything like that." I mean, you tell me you're, uh, super-mega-ultra-lightning babe? That's all right with me. I'm good. I'm good.

From the chart it's a 24-127-48. This lathe is imperial. It's about 3 years old.

Yes, but....
I have a modern lathe with QC gearbox. I also have an old 9" lathe which has loose change gears. This is the one I go to for cutting unusual or non-standard thread pitches. It is much more flexible than the modern one for this application. With the help of a few home cut change gears I can cut:
All common Imperial pitches down to 8 tpi including 19 tpi and 27 tpi, but not 11 1/2 tpi.*
All ISO metric pitches from 0.5 to 3.0 to an accuracy of 0.02% pitch error or better*
All common DP threads from 48 to 22 DP to an accuracy of 0.04% pitch error or better*
Good approximations for all 0 BA to 12 BA threads
and various non-standard pitches, so there is still a place for the old lathe with loose change gears.
I have not needed to cut metric module threads yet, but it should be possible.
* Coarser pitch threads in each of the above systems could be cut, but this would mean over driving the lead screw, which I am reluctant to do. If it really became necessary I would probably arrange to drive the lead screw instead of the headstock spindle. It would really be exceeding the design limits of the lathe though.
Frank.

I have a Clausing 8000 series that would cut that range of threads, but no mention of accuracy.
