Flocast in Reservoir. Most of the other merchants get it from them.
Cast Bronze Bar,Copper Alloys Brass,Aluminium Bronze Bar,Bronze Bushing Manufacturers Australia
They cut to length. There might be a mimimum charge. When you make an inquiry, a guy named Luke will get back to you, and I guarantee his email will BE IN ALL CAPITOL LETTERS.
Thats only 5 minutes from here, if you want some one to pick it up and on-ship it.
Regards Phil.

You could also try Global Metals. They have just moved from Thornbury to Dandy South. So at least that's on your side of town.
Global Metals
The joints probably still in disarray. I was at the Thornbury branch two weeks ago. They had to move 1,500 tonnes of metal out to the new place last week.
Regards Phil.

A really cheap source of roundish cast stock is old sash window weights.
I find them pretty good for sizes up to 1.25" by the time you machine them round.
Obviously they aren't super fine grain but I have found them to be generally pretty good especially when you can get two for a buck.
It all depends on what you need the stock for.
Cheers,
Greg.

I use Edcon regularly for BMS flat bar, ally bar and 12L14. I have had good service although they can take a while if they need to get something in. They ship to me via Barnetts. Would make sense for you to get something from Melbourne though Mike, not Sydney.

OK thanks .
Interalloy is another possible option but they usually want you buy a minimum standard length which is a pain, they don't seem to sell off cuts .
I am running out of old cast iron pullies to machine down ! I sometimes find the exercise weights at op shops but they are often made from a pretty crappy stuff, difficult to machine and the smaller ones are dog bone shaped so your limited with what you can do with them .

Interlloy will sell whatever length you need they just have a $100 minimum order (last time I bought from them, it might be more now)
I found them quite helpful on the phone and just cobbled together enough cast, 4140 and EN36 to get $100 worth.
Order turnaround was overnight and it was an eye opener driving through their warehouse to collect the order.
Cheers,
Greg.

If the Edcon store you're dealing with doesn't have the stock, bringing it in from another one can get exxy buying small quantity. They'd be about the last ones I'd deal with for interstate sourcing going on that experience.

Arrogant
I rang Interalloy but it was a waste of time
The salesman was arrogant..he said " our off cuts go into the scrap bin " and " whats your business name ?" and "we charge a 15 dollar cutting fee plus GST " and minimum charge is 150 bucks "
Bohler is the same, they behave as if a bit of cast iron is the crown jewels .
And people wonder why we don't make anything any more

It may cost you in freight but Surman metals here in Adelaide do sell by the kg.

Did you try Flocast? The place where just about every one else gets their cast from. The only thing they sell is cast bar or bronze alloys..

You'd have to go there. Both Interalloy & Bohler, would be in excess of 50 staff. They're not you're local scrappy or steel merchant.
Nothing happens until its cleared accounts, then a cut order will be issued, two blokes involved there, the crane operator and the saw operator. Plus a store man, and some one running the dockets. $15 bucks a cut, they will be doing their nuts.
What processed you to go near Interalloy. The second, third & forth words of their web site say "Engineering Steels & Alloys"
Interlloy | Engineering Steels + Alloys
Bohler, Like wise. "Engineering, Stainless & Tool Steel suppliers". Stainless Engineering Steel Supplies | Engineering Steel Tool Suppliers
You go to them if you need K245, P20, EN36, Orvar, Dievar, Chrome plated, etc.
When I tell you, other merchants get there cast from Flocast. Take a look at the two specs from Flocast & Interalloy for 4E cast.
http://www.flocast.com.au/4E-Chemica...sis-Range.html
Grey Iron 4E | Interlloy | Engineering Steels + Alloys
I think you will find the Spec's are verbatim. Or am I wasting my breath here. I can tell you that because LUKE D with the CAP LOCKS, has told me, I might be able to pick up the size I want, because he's just sold a full bar length to Interalloy.
Bohler and Interalloy will get you any amount you want, as long as its in mill quantities of 5,000 kg's. Despite what their web site says. Been through this 5 times since 2011, trying to find bricks for the scraping classes.
Global hold rectangular in Perth for the mining industry, and Flocast are the font for anything round / hollow.

I am surprised you are having trouble getting cast iron. Here I just go to the local bolt/steel merchant and they are able to get me what I want, usually ex stock, although I buy very little of it. But certainly a small steel supplier might be more forthcoming then a large business that sells to the small steel supplier.
I know Qne Steel here will not sell me half a length of special steel, they will direct me to the small supplier, they will sell me full lengths though.Gold, the colour of choice for the discerning person.
