Redwood Machinery - Adelaide
For those of us in Adelaide: Redwood Machinery on South Road which has been closing down for the last 237 years is now only open on Thursdays according to the placard on the front door.

Dean, my recollection is that he's not been open on Saturday for at least 10 years if not longer. His "going out of business sale" has had more iterations that John Farnham has had "Final Farewell Concerts".
I did buy a new concrete mixer from him last year and asked if he could better the marked price for cash - that resulted in a massive saving of $10 on a $1K+ unit

Ok. I wasn't sure when he was open. I used to visit on Fridays as I had time to kill, having travelled up for a regular medical appointment the night before. I now have these visits locally. Modern technology means that the specialist has equipment now that is fully portable. Good and bad. I don't have to travel for these appointments, but I don't get to go shopping in Adelaide on a regular (6 month) basis.

Actually, although he is a bit of a solemn sam, I will miss that shop when it closes.
He is a no bull kind of a guy, and he had a great range of quality ozzie made button air line connectors - which I still use. Also super cheap sanding belts.
And he always knocked a bit off the price as I was regular.
He's in a bit of a pickle, as going to auction to clear the store will be a big loss. So going one day a week is probably a smart move in the interim.
Thursday will probably be a busy day.The worst that can happen is you will fail.
But at least you tried.

Agreed, I remember when we had lots of that type of place in Adelaide, the one on Goodwood Road on the corner of Leader Street was a ripper (and open on Saturdays).
When and if they ever clear the place out I want to sit across the road in a deck chair - it will be interesting seeing how they get some of that stuff out and what they find buried in the far reaches of the block.

I bought my current metal bandsaw at Futura when I still lived in Adelaide, I left there 15 years ago.
My 15A twin cylinder compressor came from Redwood and is still going strong.
Loved visiting both those places, I still have quite a few bits of tooling etc in my shed that I purchased when still living in Adelaide or on one of my frequent trips back there.

I remember going to Futura Machinery with dad a few times when I was a kid,
Then as a teenager buying a few tools there.
