Which Lathe?
Hafco AL320g $2299
L141 | AL-320G Bench Lathe | machineryhouse.com.au
Hafco AL335 $3399
L183 | AL-335 Centre Lathe | machineryhouse.com.au
Ozmestore1 12" x 36" $2500
36 034 X12 034 910mm X300MM Geared Head Metal Lathe W Coolant Worklight Stand Cabinet | eBay
home hobby use, I like the option of work light and coolant system on the bigger machines. At this stage i'm leaning towards the Ozmestore1 12 x 36 lathe which is basically the same as the AL335 by the look of it.
thoughts?

Hi there. I inherited an ozmestore 12x36 lathe. Its similar to above but does not have light, coolant and the QCGB is a norton style. Its not a bad machine and I have no complaints. Does that mean if you buy one it will be the same or you will be happy? Who knows! You do take a bamble buying online. I dare say if you have issues after purchasing that dealing with a store like H&F may be easier. But you pay more.
Good luck!

Isn't there a Gasweld up that way?
I think there's been a few guys here get lathes through them. You might want to look them up. (likely get you a few hits on a forum search also)

What is the freight delivered to you from Ozmestore? I think you better know that before you commit. I have bought a bit of gear from them but have been able to pick it up and check it out before leaving and the guys there have always been helpful, even showing me things before I bid on them. I have never bought a machine tool though. The stuff looks ok, for the price. I don't like spending others money!!

Not to be a wowser BUT ozmestore have very little in the way of spare parts for the 7x12 which is what I have inherited. The motor died and got a new motor, which lasted about 1/2 hours work. The shaft between the bearing and fan sheared, rang up and was told send it down for warranty, got a phone call back NO Problem with warranty, had a few of them that way. None in stock, should get it in the next container about 2-3 weeks, this was in early February, April I rang and was told the boss forgot to order it. On its second circuit board also, ratted from another machine for spares.
STILL WAITING after 6 months and 6 phone calls

I noticed the H&F (AL335) has the imperial leadscrew and a greater range of threads available and would probably suit a right handed person while the Ozmestore one is pretty much identical but with a metric leadscrew, fewer threads you can cut and a mirror image apron which I guess would suit someone that is left handed.
I have an AL340D (digital readout) and it's almost perfect for what I need except for not being able to cut 19 TPI which of course is the one I need.
The big headstock bore is always handy.

Unfortunately I can't get a motor anywhere else, otherwise I would have told them to stick it up their donkey, that is why I put up comments here.
Eventually if/when it gets here, I'm going to ask for a ER25 imperial collet set as a consolation for the delay. To make matters worse, my mini milling machine came from the same place, and now I'm after a circuit board.
