I'd be keen to, have to talk to the boss about it, weekends are a bit hard but i should be able to sort something.

My wife understands the process and how it can produce such flat/straight/square results, she just doesn't understand why things need to be so flat. "It's not like you work for NASA" is the usual line......

Well Guys, I'm at the other side of the globe and would love to come down under and join you all. Scraping is a skill that I would like to learn. Nobody seems to have those skills around here any more. Unfortunately I won't be able to join you all. However I'll be there in spirit if nothing else.
    Best Regards:

But Ewan - aren't you a member of the National Association for Serious Addicts?

I think apart from Shakespearean quotes on the forum I explained it to my wife and family just as machine tool reconditioning. As I happen to have a few in the shed that was understood.

Ah, the quilting angle of course! My wife is right into quilting, and not only that she goes on a 4 day quilting retreat with her quilting buddies once a year.

I think it was Bruce (Abratool) that explained it best to his better half.

    Default Scraping Course

    Phil
Thanks, yes the Scraping Course was one of the best things I ever did.
Not only for the experience in scraping but the pleasure of meeting & sharing with a bunch of like minded blokes for a couple of days. Working on the same bench as BT (Anorak Bob), also meeting you.
My wife still does not fully understand, particularly when I arrived home after the weekend with an accurately hand scraped block of cast iron in my luggage.
"So you spent 2 days making that" was the comment, & I must admit the addiction is hard to explain !!!!
Since that time, a couple of years back, Ive Scraped a couple of Surface plates, Andres Shaper ram, my Hercus Mill X & Y slides, an Angle Plate & even the soles of a couple of my Stanley wood planes.
    Good thing, Scraping !!!!
    Would recommend the course.
    regards
    Bruce

    G'day all

Work intruded at the last moment and prevented my being at the last scraping course, so I would like to register my interest in attending the next one.

Hopefully work can be arranged around being there with the extra notice.

Looking forward to meeting with other likeminded people, master some of the skill-set and finally meet Phil (Machtool) who I count to be a good mate.

    Regards

    Quentin

Normally my diary has mostly blank pages, but I'm a little crowded around October.

I would be out for the weekends of 27/28 Sept, 4/5 Oct, 18/19 Oct, 25/26 Oct.

Please put me down as a potential attendee.

Pretty much any date in Sep, Oct or Nov should be O.K

You are welcome to come visit me if you want some pointers.... I can teach you lots of bad habits

But seriously, I am am serious if you want some basic scraping help, I do not think I am that bad at it..

Hell I feel like coming down just to see Phil and Marko again... Bring the G&L bed down as carry on baggage

Just one of the things that got scraped at the 2011 class

I still have a chuckle to myself at what Stuart bought out at the end of the class, that TC grinder table that the previous owner had butchered and we thought Stuart had done it... Or we told him we thought he did it.. LOL

That's a very generous offer and one that I would be keen to take you up on.
