    Hi Dean,

    What about these? http://www.vxb.com/page/bearings/PRO...200-2RSBearing

I remember someone posting about a method of moving a machine in a tight spot using blocks of ice. The advantage is that it's self lowering when you get it in place..

I just saw that Ray had replied to this thread and thought it an opportune time to post these photos. There are some serious looking rollers supporting this nice FP3L. Bit bigger than the Gardiner's but the correct colour.

I used a set of these casters for a purpose built dolly under (bolted to) my tailstock http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/4-4-Indus...item3a8bd69f81 and a pallet jack under the headstock.

Thanks for the picture Bryan. It's a shame I don't have a pallet jack.

Bob. Serious rollers indeed. Made me start thinking towards building in a drive system.

    Dean,
Attached are a couple of photos of a trolley I made for my grinder as I don't have a home for it yet.
Rated for 900 kg, width to suit all the machines within that weight, and fitted with extendable length runners.
Welded pads suit the grinder, other pads will be welded on as needed.
Floor jacking pads remove the weight from the castors.
Needs some strengthening gussets before its next use.
Breaks down into 4 pieces for easy transport and storage.

They are ok for rigid single base machines, but I would not put my lathe on them. I want to have it sitting solidly on the floor.

I have a length of HDPE that is 40mm diameter. I am going to try making rollers from that and see how they work.

Thanks BT, Looks the goods, I can't remember the differences between the FP3LB and the FP2LB, I think they are pretty much the same size. I'd like to see more detail on the DRO mounting, where did the pictures come from?

    eBay.de Ray. http://www.ebay.de/itm/Deckel-FP3L-F...item3a8f06b670

I think the differences were a bigger donk, the standard FP2 had a 3 horse motor , the FP3 and 3L, 4hp and the 3 had more Y travel with 300mm compared to the 200 of the 2. This info was gleaned from a 1975 KF copy milling machine catalogue I have. It features a brief summary of the other machines Deckel manufactured at that time. The FP2L was not listed.

    G'day Bob.

Those would be GKS Perfekt dollies. They are the Rolls Royce of machinery skates. Their Robot and a set of their machine jacks are on my to-do list when my Tattslotto comes in.

There's a mob called Team Solutions, that sell a Chinese kind of copy of them. I bought a set of there 6T, they seem to be fine. I priced this 4T, 3 point set last year. It was only in the $300 range

They also sell just the wheels, that might be an option for the roll your own crowd.

    Regards Phil.

(On Edit) Also found these on Oz Ebay. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/2x-Polyur...-/281274935273

At $25 bucks each delivered, and including the bearings, you would be hard pressed to make them for that.

Dead right - I can see an order going their way real soon now. Even though I've bought some bushings I still have to machine out the steel rollers to fit them - I drilled an undersize hole before welding the slugs into some short pieces of Sched 80 pipe so I could finish bore to size. It's all time and I have little to spare for projects when $200 makes the issue go away....

Thanks for that posting, I appreciate it.

The search is over. I found that we already have some skates, we bought some years ago.

So why would I choose polyurethane over nylon or V V?

Nylon is harder, so it will roll easier. The poly is some what softer, so does less damage. Its only an issue if you are rolling over painted floors. I'd go the nylon, unless your planing on skating machines across the kitchen, to get them into the living room.
