Default shall I live with it or do it again

while waiting for my cannon barrel to be blued, I embarked on another project.

Its one of those dove tail type Knurlers

got the body done and the two slides ...really happy with that

the shaft called for left hand and right hand threads...first time doing that on the lathe and I am happy with result...really really happy..threads both internal and external look and measure excellently

can any one recall my first attempt at making a fly cutter and Dave J politely informed me that I had it wrong..until I told him it was a left handed one

well i have done it again...the shaft was supposed to have LH thread at top and Rh at bottom...While I was standing on may head (as one does when they are having a seniors moment) I made rh at top and lh at bottom.

this of course means that to apply pressure for the dovetail cutters to leave their mark I will have to turn adjusting nut anticlockwise

what do i do...make a new one or live with it

The autistic child that lives within my head wouldnt cope with that at all. Definately remake it.

I get to the point with things like that where once ive made one mistake, I suddenly start "noticing" other mistakes id made in the past on that part so that I could easily justify binning the part.

Yeh go for another one. You will get sick of telling people that you made it wrong if you do put it into use.

The black dog is following me around and yesterday I pushed myself to finish off the last part of crane that I have mounted on the trailer. Its a Chinese "Ute Crane" that a mate got for me and I added a 45mm ram and slid a length of 50 X 50 X 5mm RHS in the top to give me more reach, I also added a hand winch and this is what I was finishing yesterday. It was the pulley block that has the hook hanging off it. I was only painting it so undid the 2 bolts undercoat and top coat (pressure pack spray cans). Told myself to put it together today to let the paint harden but.....yeh I started to put it together and was going well until I went to fit a new shorter bolt. What to do?.....drill out insitu....could be dangerous. ....but....Well the black dog won and I did leave it until this arv. Went straight in unbolted it took the parts to the drill press job done in a few minutes(after I spent half an hour looking for the correct size drill) Got it together. Am I happy now?.....No the black dog takes any enthusiasm away. Maybe tomorrow I will be happy

    Edited to add PIcture

I hate it when you do a job and it may be a pretty good job but your just not happy with it. You know that if you don't re-do it, it will just sit there and eat and nag at you until you do it again. It's a PITA but the actual hardest part is deciding to do it again. Once you reach the decision to do it again, the rest is (dare I say) easy...

Girl, I don't wanna know about your mild-mannered alter ego or anything like that." I mean, you tell me you're, uh, super-mega-ultra-lightning babe? That's all right with me. I'm good. I'm good.

I would probably tell myself I'd live with it for a while and if it annoyed me enough I'd redo it. Which means it would never happen because there would always be something more important/interesting to do.
