    Default Shaper new for me

Thanks to a heads up from Joe, this little baby is to have a new home in my work shop. Snuck out at lunch time today, was located at a gear cutting business. Chris who I purchased it from had been given it years ago by a friend who inherited it from his Grandfather, ex pattern maker, Chris had never actually used or switched it on, the gear in his very clean shop was excellent. At a guess we recon it hasn't been used for 30 years. The Ad mentioned 12" but that I will investigate when it is home. I just need to crow bar a spot for it to hide in.
The small amount of info I have is, made by Lock Tools Company, Fitzroy Melbourne. Haven't found too much info yet but that will be half the fun. It actually is in better condition than the picture shows. Belt driven with step pulleys on the other side. The Ram is not dovetailed but square friction surfaces, from a first visual it does not show any obvious wear i.e. lip or groove. Anyway very happy. at $250 I didn't even haggle.
    Cheers Bruce

Always heartwarming to see a shaper going to a good home. Nice one Bruce, look for more updates as you get it sorted.

Nice find Bruce, I had one the same and it was snapped up when I put it on ebay last year. It should have more than

12" stroke if it is the same as the one I had.

    Hi Techo1,
I didn't get a shot of the plate, I am thinking the one you had was a larger model.
    Cheers Bruce

    Three days to go.
I think I have a problem, honestly I have been dreaming about Shapers, I have woken up at least 3 times a night since I saw the Lock Tools Shaper. It is really weird I am now visualising all these projects, doable things!!!
    Help needed.

Picked the shaper up yesterday, I thought my goose was cooked as I doubted I would get up my driveway as it kicks up at the start and the little Camry was dragging its rear. I was thinking I would have to leave the trailer in the court and wait for the wife to get home in the Prado. I was imagining her expression, anyway put the boot in and all was good.

It seems to be in great shape, but unfortunately the model No. is not stamped on the plate, it is showing No. 107. Maybe the original owner got it early in the developement. I have been unable to find any info on Lock Tools or on the shapers they produced.

I think the stroke is 10" or maybe a bit more, when I was mucking around adjusting the sliding block I did not tighten it up fully and it slipped out of the slot on the bull gear. That bloody nut has magically grow as I can not get it to slide back into place, maybe its just fat fingers though.

The previous owner has made up a niffty micro switch that can fit on either side of the table.

    The table measures 10.5 x 7 X 7.5

Front of the table has support.

    Vice is in great condition.

The ways look ok, there doesn't seem to be any marking on the yoke for stroke length.

So far very happy, If I can get that BLOODY nut back in!!! Hopefully somemore Lock Tool owners will pop up.

    Cheers Bruce

Congratulations Bruce, looks a good 'un. I don't quite understand the problem with the nut.
I wonder how similar it is to a Douglas? Maybe a Dougie owner can help.
