Matt,
I'd guess late 50's to maybe late 60's. for me the hints are s. a. e. in the forging and a 25/32 size, many years ago I was told why spanner and socket sets had such an odd size, unfortunately I can't remember.
The s.a.e bit is amusing really, back in the 'old days' mechanics would look at a bolt or nut, if it had a course thread they would call whitworth, if it had a fine thread they they would call s.a.e. As an aside to that when I started out I had tradesman who would not let me call a thread (bolt) s.a.e, it was explained in no uncertain manner that it was a unf thread then again it could have been a bsf thread, have they not heard of unc and so on. oh well that's my bit for the day
Ted
