Anyone tried out the Smith and Arrow flap disk and cutting disks?
Just thought I would post this up before I put a bulk order in.
I use a lot of zirconia flap disks in 40grit and the thin cut off disks in a little 125mm angle grinder.
The cut off disks are cheap enough but the flap disks are pretty hefty in the other name brands. Sometimes up to about $10.
I noticed they have some disks as thin as 0.8mm. Anyone tried them out this thin. I just use the regular 1mm thick ones.
The Smith and Arrow brand flap disk work out pretty darn cheap when you buy in bulk from the OZ outlet.
Anyone have an opinion on these? Surely they can't be as good as the regular name brand gear. Are they worth it?

I use the S&A 0.8 mm and 1 mm x 75 mm cut off disks in my medium air die grinder and my Waldown toolpost grinder, and they are EXCELLENT.
I've re-ordered a number of times. Great discs and value. Hard wearing and strong.
I've not used anything better. I don't use flap discs, so I can't comment on them.
On one order they ran out of stock, and sent me twice as many for the same price to compensate for waiting an extra week - how good's that ?
RobThe worst that can happen is you will fail.
But at least you tried.

I will buy them again when I need more.

I've used hundreds of them in 1mm thickness and the 125mm grinding disks. Not as good as Pferd disks but quite good enough and a lot cheaper. I'd order from them again without thinking twice about it.

I have used the thin cut off discs they are good value for the $$$ I did a test awhile back on some stainless and the smith a arrow didn't last as long as a flexovit but the difference wasn't worth the extra expense.

I've used hundreds of the 125mm diameter 1mm thick discs and found them great. I've also used the 125mm flap disks, and while not quite as good as joscos i reckon they are good for the price and will buy again. The only problem has been 100mm grinding discs which have been pretty hopeless... they work ok around the edge of the disc but flat side (underside?) just doesn't have much bite so are really slow at removing material.

Thanks everyone. Looks like good value! When I get around to putting in an order I will pick up some of the .8mm disks in 125mm as well and give the a go!

Smith & ARROW - Thanks
Hey guys
Just wanted to say thankyou to all of you who took the time to help out with this question and make such positive comments about our products. Smith & ARROW is an Australian family owned business and we have worked hard to build it into a company that provides good quality consumables at a fair price. A little while ago we managed to get SAI Global to independently certify all of our cutting and grinding discs against the Australian Standard for bonded abrasives - something we are very proud of. To the user who had a proble with our grinding discs, I would really appreciate it if you could PM me your contact number so that I could give you a call to discuss.
Thankyou all again for your honesty and support.
Cheers

Just to add my 2 cents I have been using their 1mm disks in 125mm diam and their wire wheels on my angle grinder and I have to say that I agree with all that has been said. Maybe not quite as good as the best brands, but very good value for money. I had a cutting disk that vibrated the other day. The first problem I have had. Still worked ok until I caught it in a cut and made it smaller. Was ok then. Highly recommended and I will be buying them again as well as other products.
Smith&ARROW is online at the moment. Hope they are happy with the replies. Only what is deserved.

Great to see an Aussie manufacturer getting it right.
Haven't used them myself but probably will.
Any user feedback on the zirconia belts?

I also like the 125mm cutting discs and have used their linisher belts which I think cut as well as any others, last longer and are tougher.
Have also used their poly discs which work well and their cobalt drills which are also good.

Flap discs
I've used the 125 mm zirconia flap discs many times for rust removing and paint stripping.
I found them are very good too. Definitely the cheapest.
I've also got a selection of their 150 mm velcro discs. Not too bad, considering the price.
