Default 45 mill/drill and soft metal

Having used the 45 mill/drill for some time, I have discovered a worrying feature . The table appears to be made from recycled drink cans I have always been extra careful when locating items to the table, despite my efforts, the table is suffering from numerous dings and nicks , even craters have appeared .

Whatever metal the makers used , it is definately not hard enough for general machining or hobby use . Oh well , you cannot expect the best quality from a backyard foundry Mike

I am pretty sure I am the proud owner of a solitary nick on my 45's table. I think I dropped something heavy-ish on it a while back. Possibly the edge of my 30kg anglock vice. The table has a ton of scratches from sliding the vice around. I have always been somewhat careful without going to the extreme. My table tends to not nick very easily by the looks of it. It makes me wonder if these things are all made in the same factory as some say as the quality differences seem to be vast. Mine was is one of the machines with the larger table, longer travel and by the looks of it overall better finishing.

I have not been game to check my table for toughness but as far as I am aware there is no damage after just over 1 year. I also have the larger table and longer travel. The finish I cannot comment on.
