Thread: piper tapping chuck questions.

guy,
how can we change the torque on this chuck? we tried but seem to be very tight and it won't move .
any one use this chuck and how did you do it ?

what i was wondering does any body own or have used a reversing
tapping chuck of the vintage of thorens?

It has gradations at the top from 0 to 13 i think. which i think you are
meant to adjust the chuck according to the size of the tread tapped?
does it have a clutch is this normally adjusted buy holding the top with
pin spanner and turning the aluminum barrel?
whats the purpose of the grub screw in the middle of the barrel and the
threaded hole in the lower part of the chuck.

they might explain it all to you. You are on the right track though. The biggest thing with them is that they reverse when you take the pressure off or lift them up with a drill opress handle.
