Mahr Indicator Questions
Reading about Joe's Mahr Indicator buy prompted me to start this thread.
I have a Mahr Zentimess 0.0005" which I paid $29.50 for. On Monday I had a look and there are a couple left. These look like new. There is also two others. One I think is a Millimess 0.0001" and the other I think is 0.05". Neither of these are working. The Millimess needle moves around when the knurled knob is turned and the other one does nothing. I keep wondering whether it is worth buying at least the Millimess and trying to fix it. They are all still in their cases.
Can anybody tell me where to get information on these and suggest if there is any chance of success. Also can someone tell me what the knurled knob is for exactly.

Thanks Bob. Excellent writeup. I think I read this one at the time. I remember Stuart's question about the shutter release cable. Reading that and looking at the pictures has made me think it may be worth it to have a try. I have thought about asking how much they would let me have it for on the basis it is not working. Hopefully I can get a bargain that will work in the end.
