Removing standard lathe oil points
Those little oiling points with the spring loaded balls the manufacturers mount in tailstocks, leadscrew bearing blocks, change gear spindles, etc, is there some way of removing them without damaging them?

I've had some success with dental scrapers which have very hard tips which can get into the oiling holes and then lever them out, it depends on how tightly they are pressed in. If you are on friendly terms with your local dentist they discard them after a period of use as they can no longer sterilise them so you might be able to get a few.
Where in Adelaide are you, I can give you a few to try out if it helps (my better half works for a dentist). I'm at Aberfoyle Park.

I've only removed damaged ones, an easy out works wonders. Not sure about how to do it without damage. Arc euro trade has them for a good price and the quality is good. I'll add a link when I'm not on my phone.

I used easy outs to get mine out. The really stuck in ones got a little misshapen, but some came out really easily.

Once removed what then? Are they replaced again after cleaning? I am wondering about something else for my mill which only has a couple unless they are hiding. Probably need a one shot system but I am not sure if it is worth it.
