    Default Bandsaw feed cylinder leaking

The hydraulic feed cylinder on my BS-7L bandsaw has become very springy due to air in the cylinder... I think maybe because it has been leaking oil and is now low. It looks like it might just be the threaded elbow that screws into the bottom of the cylinder thats leaking.

The machines less than a year old so I'm tossing up whether I hit up hare and forbes for a new cylinder or just try and fix mine. Anybody know what oil these take, how you refill them and how much they take?

"threaded elbow that screws into the bottom of the cylinder thats leaking." It looks like that
elbow would have a nut on the inside of the cylinder.

I reckon give them a phone call at least, if it was me the decision would be based on how far I
would have to travel to swap it over.

    Default Leaking Oil

Hell yeah mate, I'd be giving them a call. I have one of them saws, never had problems like you have. I bought a press off them a couple years back when they were in the old store a street away. Used the press twice to push out bearings and the hand pump failed. Took it back, they replaced the hand pump, gave me a new one. So yes, I would be giving them a call.

I gave them a call and theyre going to get back to me.

I cleaned it all up and had a closer look and it's actually leaking from the stem of the little brass valve, then is running down onto the main cylinder. If not for the bouncing due to the air I probably wouldn't have noticed as the cylinder gets splashed with coolant when its running which masks it.

When it comes to little things like this, I tend to just fix them as it's sometimes so painful dealing with sales people after you have bought the item and sometimes the distance makes it even more so. Going back to the company is the right thing to do though. They must love people like me.

Good luck with the leak. I'm sure they will fix the problem.
