Default Nitinol,,,,,,Something interesting but probably useless to most.

Memory metal, I haven't heard of this for some time and I came across it looking for something else, very quirky I thought it worth a post.

Maybe not so useless John when we read further about its applications.

Thanks for posting this thread. When I watched the video I initially thought the Nitinol was another wonder material shelved by those with vested interests in oil. Reading the article in the above link suggests that's not the case.

Interesting stuff - thanks for posting.

Obviously there are issues regarding manufacturing quality/cost, but I'd never heard of this one before. Loved the video....

    Hi John,
Thanks for posting. A very interesting product. I loved it when they first made an engine with it out of the bicycle wheel. I expected it to turn slowly but it really took off.....

Off course the mischievous side of me went straight to all the jokes you could play with it......

    Great Post,
Thanks for passing it on, you just have to love stuff like that. Really gets the gray Matter going.

Default Bumped - this is fascinating + 2 new links

Found out about this stuff today via a homemadetools.net update

Did some googling then a forum search. Hence this reply to an old thread.

Here are a couple of interesting things created since the original post back in 2013, google will find others.

Looks like no revolutionary new engines have been made yet.
