Moving house again!
Hi,
Its that time of the year again where I get to move house. The fun in moving my lathe, shaper, drill press, and the rest of my work shop is well, not that fun.I've moved the shaper and lathe into the new place, the garage floor is atrocious. I think the concreter used his thumb and eye to level it.
I'm thinking of using these to at least get a level to start from:
http://www.castorsandindustrial.com.au/cgeneral/ajustafoot/fixed.htmas
as of last year they where about $4 each plus delivery from Qld. Cheaper than H&Fs. I'm sure someone from this forum put me onto these.
Cheers Ben.
in regards to the photo, I know its not that secure but we only moved it around the corner (about 1km in surburbia).

Ben
Can't help you re the leveling but I know what you mean about moving, having just gone through that myself for the 3rd time in 3 1/2 years. I moved about 42 klm this time. Cost me $650 to get my mill moved. Everything else I did myself with help from my wife. I've actually spent more moving the mill in the last 3 years than what I originally paid for it.
Each time I've moved I've culled lots of stuff. As I've moved into a smaller shed I think I will have to cull even further as I get things sorted. I've realised I have stuff that I've had for 25 -30 years and have never used, so maybe its time to let go.
All the best with setting your shed up again. I've hardly started with mine

I dred ever having to move again, And unless I absolutely have to I never will.
It would take 3 months just to move the workshop, never mind the bloody house.
I have about 13 machines and enough tooling for each to fill a semi trailer.Warning Disclaimer

Good Luck with the move Ben
I Moved 10 years ago and it took half a day to move the entire content's of the house and another 7 days to move the shed and now i have 3 times as much stuff and its mostly over a tone the big lathe is close to 3
I will have to move again soon as i have no room left
I think I have a higher percentage of cast iron than air in my little shed now
Didnt move to dimboola matt ?
cheers

Rename this thread to 'Moving Shed and other sundries' perhaps.....?
As some of you are aware I have been doing a reno on a place near Franga with big shed after deciding to move to the sticks (1.3 acres = bigger shed potential). Wife, kids, dog and cats are all easier to move than the contents of the shed. Multiple items of old school English and American cast iron... and the fact that the new place hasn't got 3 phase (yet) dampens the enthusiasm... but it has to be done.
Yes the new shed will be bigger and better (but is as yet unbuilt) but the old one is too small but at least the machines run and is functional despite being an overcrowded pig mess. Hence the proverb: 'A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush'?
I am constantly surprised with my ability to create new and innovative ways to punish myself....

HI All,
I thought I'd better drop a line. House move went well enough. I've only moved the garage and tools around twice to suit myself. Haven't had anything running yet. Put on 12mm feet on the lathe. Not sure if they will work - still levelling etc.
We don't have interenet access yet - long story. Using my parents computer on a family visit - bloody slow.
Anyway look forward to getting back online.
Cheers Ben.

Hi All,
I'm back on line and garage pretty much set up! I've been trying to catch up on all the posts I've missed due to technical problems (no internet for nearly two months!!). Hoping to do some machining soon but looks doubtful due to new job and new baby.
Cheers Ben.
