Default socket head screw sets? Where for decent price?

I'm in the process of building a few attachments for the lathe (slotter among others) and find myself wishing I had a selection of socket head screws here...
Fleabay has some sets listed, but after purchase and shipping it's a joke.

is anyone aware of a reasonably priced selection in the 3,4,5,6mm type range?

Worst case I'll build my own selection, but I know the local nut and bolt place isn't keen on breaking packs for "fifty of each size" type sales unless the pack is already open, or in stock.

I'm near Perth (Mandurah) with super-cheap auto, bunnings, and similar stores within a reasonable distance

    thanks,
    Des

    Des,

I don't know if Willetton is too far away for you but Searles Fasteners could not be more obliging when it comes to chasing the odd fixing or two. I've been buying bits and pieces from them for 25 years. Untitled

There is also Urenco Supplies in Bayswater Home along with Coventry Fasteners in Kwinana Coventry Fasteners. I have bought small quantities of fixings from Urenco and Coventry's in Welshpool. Kwinana is back of beyond for me .

    Good luck

    Bob.

I have bought quite a few different sizes (and styles) in the smaller diameters M3,4,5,6, from this Ebay seller. Found the quality quite good and competitive prices

M3 screws self-locking nut, M2 screws self-locking nut items in socket head store on eBay!

It is certainly nice to have various fasteners in stock and not having to dash out to the fastener shop (espically as it is a 45km round trip for me)

Also have quite a selection of grub screws for the same reason.

Searles are very happy to sell you one item even if they have to open a new packet.

Maybe I'm blind but I can't see a set of socket head bolts amongst the H&F kits.

If you can't find the right variety pack and end up sourcing individual mixed sizes, try Meredith Distribution (part of Wesfarmers). I was looking for small qtys of mixed sizes and my usual place couldn't help with one size. They might even become my new favourite trinket supplier.

I was looking for ten M10 x 50mm socket screwsets in 304 stainless and they ordered them in without any issue about breaking packs. They already had shorter ones in stock that they would have broken a pack - even for one or two. Under $2 each, cheaper than online delivered and cheaper than the local nut and bolt place I normally use for 30mm stainless screwsets (and they wouldn't break a special order).

I realise you want smaller and probably not in SS but their catalogue listed quite a range of sizes and options.

Edit: just checked tbe website and found they are only SEQ and Syd.

    Des,

I don't know if you consider this seller's postage costs stiff but I bought a selection of small socket screws from him and with the combined postage he offered, I thought it was a good deal - M4 x 10mm 4 x 10 Black Inner Hex Cap Socket Screw x 10 | eBay

I can recommend CUSTOM FASTENERS in England. Custom Fasteners - Chrome and stainless steel fasteners, and custom motorcycle parts and accessories
I use them for all sorts. Good quality, metric and all the imperial sizes.
I can get delivered UK to New Zealand in 5-6 days and great service.
