Nice one Mike, it will be interesting to see if it suffers from the weeping problem that BT's have.
I saw an ad in the last MEW for Reeves in the U.K, they sell Reilang cans and will ship to Aus (this may be the place that was mentioned earlier in the thread?) cans
Hi Ewan
They do turn up on ebay sometimes . I spend half my life perusing ebay ..there are bargains out there , I must be addicted or something .
I think those Pressol cans were part of the tool kit for Mercedes Benz cars years ago .
A few oil leaks doesn't bother me, I have an old series 1 Land Rover if you park it facing downhill, the gearbox oil dribbles onto the clutch , causing it to slip

I had a spare moment the other day so I replaced a badly worn (stuffed) brass tip on my most beaten up Rega,
Hit the tip with LPG gun and it dropped out.
A quick measure, spun up a brass plug, drilled it out to 1/16", tinned it, hit the Rega with the LPG again, and all done.
Works like new again.
Awesome oil cans
Cheers
Rob

Rega valve job
A friend asked me to repair this Rega oil can. sheeeez throw it in the bin !!!!!
Well it has sentimental value to her and it was her now gone fathers, but mostly i repaired it because she is a spunk
Once i got the pump inlet valve un gummed up i knew which way to head, petrol wouldn't do it so i used acetone and after sloshing it around for a while and blowing it out i turned the can upside down and thumped it on a lump of wood and i heard the valve rattle.
So the inny worked and now i only had to worry about the outy, the pics show the story of what i made so that i didn't have to pull the can to pieces, the valve parts were made from 12 mm stainless rod.
cheers, shed

Rega oil can rebuild
From the pictures shown, does anyone know what the arrangment is for the outlet spring/valve please?
I picked up a couple of Rega oil cans today - a 1 pint 032 and a 1/2 pint 03C, I have dismantled what can be dismantled to give them a good clean and going over as they didnt pump oil. the smaller 1/2 pint one had a piece of spring sticking out of the spout hole inside the main plunger tube - like the picture shows but I cant workout what else is meant to be there or how that spring is meant to sit Vs being partially inside the main barrel. I ended up removing it with a long pick. cleaned the can out and refilled with oil and it pups oil happilly but I'm still puzzled about the outlet spring/valve. The 1 pint can must have something in there as I can hear it rattle when shaking the cleaned out and empty can. My assumption is there is a ball or flap inside held in place with the spring to prevent backflow into the can. I've looked for some diagrams or informaiton but not having a lot of luck.
Looking forward to your help
Tony

I salvaged these parts from a badly damaged Rega 1/2 pint can several years ago:
The parts on the top of the photo are the order in which they go together.

Rega Oil cans
thanks for the reply and picture
yes that is the same as the parts that came out of the main barrel of the pint can.
The 1/2 pint one was slightly different with a plastic plunger on the top of the spring and a plastic ball retainer/guide below the spring in the main barrel.
The other spring I found and trying to work out, was sticking out of the outlet hole of the main barrel.

The 1/2 pint Rega I have in original working condition and the one I stripped the parts from had no plastic internal parts IRC. It was all brass and steel.
I also don’t remember anything rattling inside my can when I cleaned it many years ago.
The newer ones have plastic caps and perhaps some plastic internals.
Hopefully someone that has taken apart a few cans can chime in.
