    Default Huanyang VFD - SPDT for/rev

    Hi all,

    Can anyone help me figure out how to hook up my VFD to a forward/reverse switch?

    The VFD is a huanyang 1.5kw, and the switch is a SPDT toggle switch. There are 3 connections on the back, but no wiring diagram came with it.

    I tried connecting the leftmost connection to FOR, rightmost connection to REV, and the middle connection to DCM (top row). The switch doesn't do anything. I then tried the middle connection to DCM (bottom row), again nothing. Then, I tried the middle connection to +24V. Again, nothing.

    I set pd023 to 1 (allow reverse). When I press the jog button on the front of the VFD, I can make it go in reverse no problem.

    What am I missing?

    Thanks,

    Lee

    Hi Lee,
    I haven't seen a vsd with two DCM terminals*.

    PD001=1?

    I hope that switch has a center off.

    Stuart

    * but I havent seen that many VSDs

    You need to change a setting in the Huanyang VFD to allow switching from an external source (as opposed to using the front panel). Can't remember which setting that was though, will see if someone tells you what it is before I find it in the manual (gotta find the manual first!)

    So, I found the manual - turns out Stuart has already given you the answer. PD001 needs to be set to "1" for using external switching. Note that the front panel of the VFD won't work for selecting forward/reverse anymore - at least mine doesn't...

    Got it working, thanks.

    I swapped the switch for an on-off-on switch, and reset to factory defaults. Went through setup again, and set pd044 to 1. Bingo

    Thanks
