    Default Waldown ..... again

The base model drill has a fanciful depth indicator dial. It's fanciful because it doesn't work but it does look good. The red anodised dial appears to be adhesve fixed to its steel backing plate. The plate is loose on the pinion shaft and the return spring moves axially on the shaft. Feels like something is missing.

Does anyone own one of these drills and if so is there any chance of enlightenment?

I can make something up to positively fix the dial to the shaft but it would be nice to keep things original.

Also does anyone know the belt lengths for the 8SN or the Workmax WITH the intermediate pulley? Going by my 3M, they are not the same as the 2 or 3M.

This is off my xM (I can't work out whether it is a 2 or a 3 - the name plate says 2 but it has a 3MT)

It's a friction driven thing, so it can be adjusted by hand but rotates with the feedshaft. As yours has an inscribed mark on the casting, I suspect that the anodised label is a non standard addition. As it is you couldn't read it properly while using the drill.

On edit - let me know if you would like me to pop it off and photograph anything inside

No need to pull it apart Michael. We both have the same drill. They are 3Ms. Mine like yours has 2M cast into the head. Mine's a bit older than yours.
