    Hi,
I actually just bought one off ebay and was thinking it was about time to start a thread....as they say, great minds think alike!

I don't have such a range as your Matthew, but i'll take some pics once the new one arrives.

    Default Mikes

Greetings chaps. I think that having more than one of a mike does indicate obsession. But I noticed that there was no Bore Mike featured. I have used bore mikes up to 12 inch diameter but I have found that if you can get your fist in a bore the old style inside mikes were the go. I did use a Stick Mike of large bores they were a heavier version of the standard inside mikes. I will post a pic of the bore mike. Yours 4-6-4

    Hi,
    Nice collection
Wow 700-800! now that should just about do it.
I've only got two mics worth a picture and one isn't mine(a 25mm Mititoyo mechanical digital) and this bore/inside set. Unless a master height gauge counts?

I hven't got many. This evening when I counted I got to 13 and 1/2.
Most are standard external micrometers -

I have mm series to 150mm and inch to 3" plus a 0 to 4" which is sometimes handy just because of the larger frame. When ever I can (and most of these are second hand) I try to buy 'digital' micrometers and with the vernier scale to get that extra order of accuracy in case it's needed. Having the digits helps the eyes as well as providing an error check. Some of the more unusual are a Starrett internal mic - not often used but handy. The head only has a 1/2" range

This is the half micrometer. The depth stop on the lathe calls for a LH head. Not having one I decided to make one. I'm going to have to wait for my 10th's indicator to come back from servicing but it feels reasonable. I also need to work out how to engrave it...

The last is conventional but I don't want to use it. It's a Goodall Pratt no. 20 1-2" plain micrometer. As far as I can tell it's never been used. That's the original brown wax on it and the box

I have that size already, so it just sits there in it's greaseproof paper. I wouldn't have a clue how old it is.

    Hi,
This is my small collection. They are all 1/1000th of an inch. The cheap chinease one comes from a measuring set i got years ago, the 2-3" is a Starrett made in England, the rest are M&W's. I just got the starret as i have not been able to fine a nice 2-3" 1/1000th M&W, and have a real need for one, as seen in my shaper thread.
