Flux can get damp through humidity /wet weather and also can give rise to porosity. Also re using flux that has not been cleaned will do it as well.
If you can locate a copy of the Lincoln Welding Procedure Handbook from Lincoln Electric, the book is pure gold in references to assist in settting sub arc and curing problems.
They are available only through Lincoln Electric as far as I know.

I learnt that you can get Triple Square/Polydrive internal bit sets. Never come across them before. Not the same as Torx.

Milling Inserts
Inserts for face mills are not necessarily available from multiple suppliers as they are often not ISO standard. Need to go to the original face mill maker....grrr. Yeah yeah you all knew that but I'm trying to catch up....

I've got a 45 degree high rake facemill from H&F, which in theory takes SEKT inserts. Problem is the Chinese 'Mitsubishi' inserts I have don't carry the relief angle all the way to the cutting edge, there's kind of a chamfer for the last 0.5mm or so. Due to the amount of rake the inserts are presented with, this chamfer hits the workpiece before the cutting edge. I had to touch up all 5 inserts on the diamond disc to get it cutting rather than rubbing and vibrating like crazy. Not a problem of a proprietary insert so much as a quality problem, I think, and they'd be fine if it wasn't for the amount of rake the holder presents them with.

I don't know what brand face mills they are. Took the insets to GeneralTools and they couldn't help unless I could show all the numbers and id off the mills.
