Show us your Shaper
The time has come. Please provide pictures, specs and any interesting comments or backstory. These threads work best when kept tight. Discuss the machines by all means but please don't go astray. Edit: Slotters and planers welcome too.
I'll kick off. Mine is a 1959 TOS, 18", with plain table and power downfeed. It had a sticker from a training college, and had suffered lubrication failure and at least one crash. Repairing the ram ways will be a major project, but for light use it works fine as is. The vise was missing but I found one from an Elliot that fits.

This is a Swedish Varnamo EV3, 18" stroke, swivel table. Probably 1950's vintage.. ex Wangaratta TAFE,
Picked up for $140 at a clearing sale, no vise, and no accessories.
Condition once the surface rust was cleaned off was pretty fair despite being out in the weather for some time.
I'm doing a "rolling restoration", since it doesn't really need a rebuild, just needs a drink of oil and a good clean up.. maybe a touch of paint here and there..
Thanks Bryan for starting this thread.
Now, where's that Invicta of Stuarts...
Regards
Ray

It's an Elliott 10M, ex QLD tafe. It was badly pranged but then repaired so I bought it as filthy but functional. I then stripped it and repainted, in the process removing a mud wasp next that was locking out a couple of the gears. I use it mainly for keyways and roughing castings. The vice is one from an Atlas shaper as the original was not with it.

And of course the mighty douglas 10"
I needed to make a new screw to raise and lower the table.
New eccentric pin to hold the work head tight.
Ram Clamp bolt and refurbish where the ram joins the yolk.
Work to be completed is a new sliding block and scrape the ways. Of course a real douglas vice is on the wishlist but I am probably going to have to make one of those too
.Later on I will post the 18" no name and my travelling head shaper

Heres mine , Alba Type 4S ,18" stroke ( just discovered this today thought it was a 14" stroke ).
Got it for free , went under water in the 98 Katherine flood .
Previous owner bought it in Adelaide in 1962 .
No vice , but a couple of tools come with it.
Is in very good condition for the treatment it has been dished out. Full restoration is under way ."Outside of a dog a book is man's best friend ,inside a dog it's too dark to read"

You've shown me yours - I'll show you mine....
This set-up is for generating gears.
It was given to me by an old engineer & was (reputedly) from a WW1 French Battleship. The drive (not original) is by roller chain & would make any HSE inspector faint dead away.
MarkWhat you say & what people hear are not always the same thing.

Given that Rapide-Lime hand shapers were available from 1900 to 1926, there is a good chance yours had a naval career.
Mark, does yours have the beautiful checkered scraping featured on the one on Tony's website?
