sheraton bed hardness
Hi all I just did the file ( thin chain saw sharpening file ) test on the Sheraton bed..it bit into the bed easily.. so it's a non-hardened bed ..cry cry and tears. MIKE

No that's a good thing. Makes it easy to scrape true.

optimist
You are an eternal optimist Bryan . I should have known the bed was soft as there are numerous dings in the bed where the students have dropped chucks , near the headstock.
I downloaded the Sheraton pamphlet describing their larger lathes ... the Diplomat, Cadet and the Cub.... the Cub would be a nice machine .. but at 813kg but a bonus is, it has a hardened bed as do the Diplomat and the Cadet. MIKE
