New Lathe on the market
H&F have a replacement lathe for the AL-54B, nice little gear head, dual belt drive, 26mm bore, 500 BC believe this one is sold next shipment due just prior Christmas.
Did anyone have a look at it?? I had 2 engineer mates and they although have large lathes said for me would suit the work i would want to do.
I have other photo's but need to grab LOML's camera and download them. Its the Dark grey one 2nd back on the right behind the dual Lathe/Mill.

The AL54A & B were 700mm between centres not 500mm.

I was in the Melbourne H&F a few weeks ago, and they had a whole new range of lathes on the floor.
I have to say I was/am not to impressed with them.
They are about 12 inches lower than the old range, which for me being 6'3" is just silly.
The build quality looks to be way lots inferior to the old range. Which was questionable all on its own.
And it seems the bed length is shorter by up to 200mm on each model replacement...
It kind of looks like H&F found a cheaper supplier, but in doing so compromised on quality at the same time.
Sorry but its what I saw and I thought I would add my 2c worth.Warning Disclaimer
