Default Turret cost for Myford Super 7

    Hello Cognoscenti,
Anyone have an idea of what I should expect to pay for a used turret attachment, the tailstock replacement version, for a Myford Super 7?

    Hi DrWu,

Fred (BigShed) can probably comment further, I think he got one from here LittleMachineShop.com - Tailstock Turret Tool Holder, 2MT

There's a thread discussing tailstock turrets here.. http://www.woodworkforums.com/f65/ta...-turret-98016/

I can think of a few jobs where a tailstock turret would speed things up.

    Regards
    Ray

Thanks for that Ray, but I'm keen on the Myford original, which fits onto the lathe bed and completely replaces the tail-stock and I doubt if I would ever find one here. I found someone in the UK who has one in good condition but for that it seems I'd be looking at around $1400 landed here and that's difficult to justify when I could get a complete Super 7 lathe for maybe $3000.
...Hmm, at $89US that tail-stock fitted job could be tempting.

The turret from LMS does a very good job, accurate and repeatable positioning.

In Model Engineers' Workshop #178 there is actually an article on how to make your own, there are a few sources for this project around on the internet too.

I would like to combine mine with a lever operated tailstock to speed up drilling etc,, I believe there is a kit available for the Myford lathe.
