Default Starrett Master Vernier Calipers normally $600+ $95 buy it now

I wouldn't normally do this, but I feel obliged to post a link in the metal forum as well seeing that the people here would have a genuine use for it.

You will be better off with the set of micrometers, and just pick up a cheap set of digital calipers for general work.

You can't be serious surely? $600.00, what sort of scam is that?? Even $95.00 is way over the top .

Thats what i was thinking its way better to go to local hardware store and buy some calipers there. Even better go to a swap meet they would surely have some second hand calipers there that are dirt cheap.

It's probably a bargain, but too late it's been sold.

The question as to why a Starrett precision master costs so much more, is a matter of degree, I guess you are paying to have the confidence (proof) that it's accurate, as well as paying for the Starrett name.

you did well to sell them for 600, not that thats over priced for a masters vernier but, unless your a patternmaker or toolmaker your better off buying a budget vernier, you didn't mention the size? i assume 600mm? if anyone can be bothered to take a look on the U.S ebay, search for verniers, micrometers in metric and you will be amazed how little they go for there. scored a starrett 600mm height gage in the states on ebay for 350 including postage to my door, excellent condition near new, same thing here, same condition around the 900 dollar mark, work that one out.

Different strokes for different folks, boys.

I would have snapped it up for the asking price without hesitation had I not already owned a nice vernier of a similar size.
