AL320g Lathe CNC Conversion
I've converter my AL320g lathe to cnc.
Using Mach3 for the control software, running an old version. The steppers are 2 Nm driven by gecko 251 drives geared 2:1 to ballscrews. Have the basics working. Need to add threading and work out how to use the tool table for the different cutters,

Hi Mark,
Congratulations on getting it running, I can see you'll have a lot of fun ahead working out how to drive it. I would get a little nervous about the exposed mains wiring, but I realize it's a work in progress.
Looking forward to seeing more details.
Regards
Ray

Hi Mark, and welcome and thanks for posting.
+1 to what Ray said, and congratulations again on getting it running, .
I would like to get my mill done but finances are holding it up and I don't really need it, just another toy to play with.LOL
With the connections, even if you only build a temporary cover over the back just to be safe.
Just a thought
With the stand it looks like it could over balance with the head stock end legs so far in, also it may be putting strain on the ways from the over hang. If you could move the leg out to the middle of the head stock mounting bolts and put a piece of plate on top to catch the whole 4 bolts would support it better.
When you get it all running properly are you going to do a video? If so I will look forward to it.
Dave
