Tool & cutter work of art
It never ceases to amaze me how clever some blokes are, especially the engineering kind. Take a look at this home made work of art.
Tool and Cutter Grinder - The Home Shop Machinist & Machinist's Workshop Magazine's BBS
Anyone got some plans for a simple unit?

Ken dont take this the wrong way but the best plans you could have at the moment is to get you machines running so that you can actually attempt these jobs.

That should keep Ken going for a while. In the meantime, I'll take it on a thumb drive to Office Works for a bit of cheap printing. Thank you Eskimo.

I've got another one on the hard drive/s... somewhere..... but I cant find it
the bigger the disk or the more drives you have is just like having a big or bigger garage...you can store more stuff ....but ya can never find anything when you want it...and when you do its always in the last spot you look

It sometimes happens, that the last spot you looked was where it was, but you didn't see it, so therefore you keep looking and finally find it in a previous place you looked, which then becomes the last place you looked.
Done that just recently looking for some parts to a lathe.

Here is a link to the web site of the guy behind the Bonelle.
Design is intended to be fabricated and machined to avoid the need to procure casting sets (rarish and expensive), but there is a bucket load of machining involved.

Puzzled.
I was just looking at Mr Willis' photos of his grinder and I'm still shaking my head After going to all that trouble, why would you mount a nasty switch enclosure smack bang on the front of such a beautifully crafted machine? Surely something more subtle would have been available. In my opinion, all too often switchgear looks like an afterthought.

Ant,
That would be thinking outside the square. Now there will be a rush for old car valve grinders.

Yep - had that thought before too. Unfortunately, not often to be found cheap if you don't already have one - I check Ebay every now and then for them, but they always get pretty good money. If you managed to pick one up with all the bits and pieces though, it would be pretty easy to convert it I reckon - wonder if the boss would miss his
*edit* Perfect example of what I mean by good money - here's one needing repairs, and its still at $500 with 2 days left....

Hi all
And that one on Ebay has been droped,
And its up to $500 +…..???????
I have got 2 , one W/Brown 212 seies very good condition had it for 20 years.
No 2 is 242 series pick up for $700 8 years ago BUT half way thought rebuilding it got a price on the workhead assembly $2,500. WORK stoped on it.
WB sold all there parts to CVO in Thomastown .
Good ones go for $1,500 to $2,500
Its under the work bench when I get time to pull out will look at it to see if it can be done.

I like that ,he has done a great job building it.
I have been thinking of doing a t&C grinder for a while and one of the first things I was looking at using is some hydraulic cylinder shaft for the main bars and those linear bearing blocks. Much better than bushes I think. The vertical lathe add on milling slides slides are readily available and not that expensive .
He doesn't say what he used for the man spindle which is one of the very important parts .
I bought one of these some time back ,and though I may be able to utilise it for a T&C later down the track .
Thing is my collection of blunt milling cutters is growing all the while.
