suggestions required for QCTP mounting
Gentlemen (& others) ....your thoughts please
I have my AXA QCTP from CDCO and am thinking about the best way on how to fit it.
below are pics showing that the existing tool post bolt only has a small plate on the underside of the compound....
I guess my options are to
1. make one that fits the compound (without modifying the compound) and to fit the QCTP
2. and anything you guys suggest
ps.....incidently the pics were taken with new mobile phone (12mp)....no excuse from now on as to why I didnt/couldnt take pics..I wont have to go get the EOS now....

I have just been through this with my AL960. My lathe just had a tapped (M16) hole in the top of the compound instead of the usual T-slot. God knows why.
My solution was to make up a stud with M16 on the bottom to screw into the topslide (as the hole was right through, I have put a M 16 grub screw in from below to lock the thread. The stud is then 14.50 dia to match the opening of the bottom of the AXA (I thought better than the loose fit on the supplied 14mm stud) and then turned down to 14mm and threaded M14 to suit the nut.
I have posted some phots of my first go but have since redone it with more care!
I find that a sheet of writing paper under the AXA makes it more rotationally secure with a lighter tighten on the nut.
I have also made up a collar to fit over the stud to allow the original 4-post turret to be dropped on if I want to use a bigger tool or want an indexing turret.

Just fitted an AXA on my 10" Taiwanese lathe.
I removed the original post; made a new longer one with 14.5mm shank (to take out that slop) and 14 X1.5 thread to take the new supplied nut. Used a bit of 1045 steel and works a treat.
Helps to have a second lathe.
What a coincidence; two of us with almost the exact same mods.

Sounds like we're on the same wavelength. Does the hole in the topslide for that stud go right through or is it blind?
Mine goes right through and because it was M16 there was no shoulder to tighten onto, but the grub screw from below allowed me to lock the thread

My lathe (Sieg C6) has a post (shown on the left) that is a force fit in the compound.
I had to make up an extension to the post to increase both the length and diameter to suit the sleeve(on the right) on the QCTP.
The black bolt was supplied with the QCTP and held all the pieces together.Geoff

My post was similar in design to snows; but with an extra shoulder where is passed through the top of the slide. (about a 22mm flange, then about 16mm shoulder then the 14mm post.) It was lightly pressed in from the bottom and scotch keyed (grub screw half in flange and half in slide body) to both hold it in place and stop it from turning when tightening down the tool post. I can't remember the exact dimensions of the flange now. A bit of the KRAFT problem.
I could have tried to turn down the square nut to fit in the flanged hole; but it wouldn't have left much meat for the 14mm thread. On my TOS lathe I made a flanged nut to fit the hole and threaded it to take the supplied stud on the BXA. This stud was a much neater fit than the AXA and I had plenty of metal to thread into.
