If it's not too much trouble can we have pictures of the process? It would help the rest of us 960 owners

    HI ALL,
Yes, I will Post some Pictures on Completion. Unfortunately I didn't get much Shed Time in on the Weekend as We had Visitors. I have made a start though on making the new T-Nut. The QCTP came with both a T-Nut, Threaded Post and a Nut. I found that the T-Nut is not suitable, the Post could be a neater fit. As for the Nut, I am going to make a another Nut on a Lever like the existing Toolpost. Hopefully (fingers crossed) this Weekend will see the QCTP fitted.

    Default t-nut

Does your topslide have a t-slot? My al960 doesnt, just a M16x2 tapped hole (right through).

I will turn down a M16 bolt to 14mm at the shank (to suit the smaller axa). I will tighten the post onto a M16 grub screw below it.

Unfort. will not do it this weekend 'tho

    I will also post pics

That is the same setup as my Chinese lathe, the only difference is mine has a raised pad around 0.5mm where the tool post sits.

    HI rfurzer,
How bizarre, I see by the Pictures that You posted on Page 3 of this thread that Your AL-960 doesn't have a T-Nut. I Bought My Al-960B this Year of Hare & Forbes in Melbourne. How Old is Your Al-960B ?, maybe the older Models were different ?.

My DTM tool post arrived yesterday and I managed to find time to fit it to my Hercus 260 today.
You blokes were right on the money, the AXA is a perfect fit, thanks again for all your advice.
My machine had the four way turret which has a 1/2W mounting stud and the toolpost came with a T-Slot mount (which I couldn't use) with a 9/16UNF thread.
I bought a 2.5" 9/16UNF bolt ($4.75 for one bolt ) and machined off the head and about 3/4" off the length, reduced a 3/4" long section of the shaft to 1/2" then threaded it 1/2W.
I removed the original turret stud and the spring from the indexing pin so it wouldn't interfere with the new post. Mounted the new stud and screwed down the new toolpost, flash as a rat with a gold tooth.
Performed a ceremonial dumping of the shim collection into the bin then thought better of it and fished them out again, still need them for the Myford.
I am very happy with the quality of the tool post and the three holders I ordered, the locking action is silky smooth and the holders lock in as solid as a rock.
I plan to make up more tool holders myself and the delivery included a DTM catalogue which has given me plenty of ideas.
I can scan and post it if anyone would like a copy.
    Cheers,
    Greg.

    HI ALL,
The QCTP is on My Lathe, I still have a couple of fiddly bits to do - spot face the base of the t nut and sort out a Detent. I think it will perform OK, I have only had a little play so far - seems ok. I was a bit worried when I put the first Tool Holder on with a 16mm Tool - Gee am I going to get this Tool at centre height. I got Centre Height, with about 1mm clearance between the Tool Holders base and the Compound Slide. I will try and get the Photos Posted on the Weekend for You all.
