It has casters under it. So its easy to turn around or move.

I also finished my " split railroad track lantern stand "with new axe.

    IMG_20210502_175753_645.jpg

Used old axe to make a smaller stand.

I have a project to bend more pipe with larger bending radius and the first cutter I made is not side enough for the die (180mm) to I made a new one.
    20210523_104147.jpg

I went with 7/8" reamer to make it easier later on if I need new bushing down the track

Great method you came up with . I am looking at the tool you used , it looks like a square blank HSS tool with no rake ? The swarth is coming off the alloy in strings . Just wondering what alloy is it ? Thanks

The cutting is the insert I bought at the auction, it is 1" long to I could cut the radius close to 25mm with it. The top and bottom support are 150mm apart, that enables to cut larger die. My first version is the "C" shape and it has clearance problem when cutting larger die at 160mm especially on smaller radius

    20210528_161257.jpg

The insert is about 5mm wide and 1/4" high, I drilled with 4.5mm hole then used the end mill to bring the hole to size. The stock is the counter weight from the old garage door so I don't think it is anything special, could be the hot rolled steel? To determine the cutting radius, I bring that support shaft into the work then back out the distance I want then push out the insert. It is 1/2 the shaft diameter plus that distance

The gizmo is called a "drum carder" and is for carding wool.
Raw wool is fed into the small drum via the on feed tray and the wire toothed carding cloth teases it out onto the big drum.

I started in about mid Dec 2020, which is not bad for me.
To be fair I had to wait for ~4 weeks for carding cloth, and then the same for the green "PU belt" to come from the UK.

Timber is from a curly Marri log I milled in 2009.
Apart from a few custom made bronze washers, all the metal is 316 SS.
There are 6 bearings in there, 2 on each end of the drums and one in each of the belt tension pulleys.
Took me bloody ages but was pleased that I only had to make one SS piece (a small collar) twice.

The most expensive part is the carding cloth, ~ $100.
The SS would cost more if I had to fork out $, but I already had some pieces, and all the fixings, in my stash.
Under the feed tray there's a tool box with the wool removal hook, a timber thickness gauge to set the roller spacings, and 3 Allen keys for adjustments etc.

Handle and legs are easily removed for storage purposes.
Bob that is amazing bit of kit you've produced, hope loyl is still grinning.
You git a hot deal for the card cloth that's a bargain. I have chased replacement often to be put off by the exorbitant $$$ mortgage required. Have you a link pls?
Sue has not seen this yet but will show her this and the combs both have been requested in past yrs.
May I suggest push bike spokes for comb teeth tough stuff and cheaper especially if you go round cutting them out of bikes wheels left out side of homes while well dressed door knockers are spreading the religious word.Your latest project
Nice to see that woodwork real nice grain.

Your latest projectYour latest projectYour latest projectYour latest projectYour latest projectYour latest project I tried to hide that fact being they are the same. However you never see a wheelchair left outside leaning against a fence or post while the person is in sharing Gods word. Come to think of it I've neve seen any wheelchair religious door knocker at all. Your latest project selling or otherwise. We are wiser I guess.

    Thanks Wheelin.
SWMBO has been working the carder overtime and is very happy with it.

    RE; Bike/Wheelchair spokes
Most of the spokes on wheels I see by the side of the road tend to be rusty but I will have a closer look next time

    Default Bolts

I managed to finish the leaf spring pivot bolts for my jeep . They are 1 thou undersize, I will lose my first class machinist rating if I don't improve my accuracy/sizing of components

Mike, nice work, that extra bit of tolerance is good, as it will allow the grease to spread better.
I don't want to sound a know it all, but they are actually called Greaseable Shackle Bolts.

I have couple other uses for the table too, than being just under the press. But, i need to finish some parts before i can show them.

I'll post more pictures when its all done.
