Cheers, SWMBO has been fair pumping wool through that machine this morning.
She's also made me sit though parts of a youtube video that shows all the accessories that such machines can use - HINT HINT

    Default Bolts

Not much of a project. New leaf spring bolts for my Jeep , material is 4140 alloy and I use HSS tools. Good surface finish even with the roughing tool at 290 rpm , very slow feed and some tap magic applied with a brush . DOC is .030". The diam. is 9/16" with UNF threads or whatever it was called before UNF was introduced as the standard.

Mmmmm I stand to be corrected, but I believe that was "N.F."

Possibly more likely called SAE threads (Society of Automotive Engineers) in the forties? I think I still have a few old spanners that originally came with old vehicles marked SAE.

UNF was based on Sellers thread, devised in the 1860s.

    Default N.f.

From the parts book: WW2 era. The - 2 designation is the class of the thread I think ?

    Frank.

We still have a few components at work that use SAE threads on air fittings/piping. It's really difficult to get the "new" parts when we have to replace anything.

Not a lot of MW in these, but here are the wool carding accessories I've made for SWMBO

A: Drum Carder brush (cylindrical handles was a failed small drum for the Drum carding machine and repurposed for this brush). Brass endcaps, and brush component comes from Truck mudguard brush.
B: Custom curved tine carding combs - tines are 3mm SS TIG welding rods.
C: Traditional carding combs - tines are 2.4mm steel TIG welding rods.
D: SS Hook for removing processed wool; from drum carder
E: gauge for setting spacings on Drum Carder. One side is 1/4" the other is 1/2"
Except for C (WA Sheoak) the wood is the same Marri as the Carding machine.

There are still about 4 more accessories (that I know of) to make

PS there are no arguments when those Combs are in use.

Thanks for the pictures Bob, I've shown my SWMBO and now I've to make the tools that you made, to go with her Carder. By the way, your/wife's carder looks a real piece of ART, both in the timber and execution.

    Thanks Kryn.

These are some of the "formers" I made for her needlefelting work.
Now she wants "Sets" for her classes she's going to run.
