It looks fine to me Phil. O.K there are some machining marks, but they aren't likely to effect the performance of it all, and not that many have a surface grinder to add the extra bling, so all in all it looks a good workmanlike job. Well done! Incidentally what do you use for blueing, something like Brownells oxpho blue perhaps?

Just a quick little project that I’ve been meaning to do for a while.
9kg has bottle as a container for a vacuum oil/coolant extractor.
Bottle has been sitting upside down outside outside for a couple of years with the valve open. Well purged and hardly any smell.
Cut the valve off, tapped it and screwed in a barbed fitting. Drilled another hole and welded on a steel adapter as somewhere to screw in a second barbed fitting.
Vac pump hose on the center fitting, suction hose on the other and ready to go!
Works great

Sometimes I get the extra pics also, I think what happens is that you go to load them, takes a little while sometimes, so you click again hence the double pics.
Nice work on the Tetley box, I wouldn't let China see it as he'll try to claim them as his.

Not my latest but down helping my brother with his lack of room in the main shed. He picked up some 20 foot sea containers a while ago and finally had some concrete laid.

So out with the 9" and the cutting began.
One roller door fitted.

We started on the roof for each container and the 6 meter area between to park has old tractor and backhoe under cover.
Wish I had this much space to work with.

You will enjoy the DRO.
It's usually cheaper to buy the scales with the DRO as a set.Using Tapatalk

Pedestal Drill Motor+VFD refit
Finally finished the motor replacement on my >20 year old Peerless Pedestal Drill.
Fitted a brand new 3 Phase 1.5Kw motor. Same frame size as the old 1Ph 1.1kW, same shaft size.
IMG_6002.jpg
New variable speed control potentiometer. The old on/off switch now powers the VFD and a small toggle switch (below speed control, bottom of white plastic box) is used to start/stop the motor.
IMG_6001.jpgIMG_6003.jpg
The VFD is inside a small enclosure mounted to the base of the drill.
The VFD LCD panel is visible through a small perspex window.

I'm very happy with the performance. The ramp up time makes for a soft start and the ramp down stops the drill quickly.
I've set the VFD to run at max 80Hz (which the motor handles easily) giving the drill a top speed around 4000RPM.

That looks to be a very nice job Apprentice, my only other comment would be to suggest if you haven't done it already, that you lift the VFD from the base of the drill, to a point out of the way of swarf and cutting lube etc. In that location gravity is not your friend. I know that I said only one comment, but another project you may consider would be a spindle tacho, so that you can use some of those 4,000RPM when appropriate. All in all, top marks for a great job.

Nice work, very similar idea to what I am planning to do with my Tough once I have a few minutes spare to rehash the Frequency drive I have on it.
I spy a roll of ZCG 400 series coax.. RF/Comms tech by any chance?
