    Default Myford Lathe

Well I never buy anything off the net for a start and I have searched for Myford Lathes and get stuff from overseas. I want a price in Oz dollers, not yank money or British pounds.

I dont buy off the net for a reason, sure I may pay through the nose when I buy in Australia but every time I walk into a store and see a person behind the counter regardless of their ethnic origin they are being employed by an oz company, being paid oz dollars and the country is churning over. I have read the many gripes in here about overcharging by oz companies and how u can buy the same stuff really cheap off ebay and get a yourself a bargin. Trouble is you are killing the employment chances of future australians by lining the pockets of some other country.

So back to my original question, how much would a brand spanking new Myford Lathe cost in oz dollars, anyone?

I have no issue buying items not made in Australia from overseas sources... It's not like retail jobs have any great importance in the scheme of things..

If it was an Australian made item then it is a different story as then you are supporting the real wealth makers, the manufacturers...

Gee , I'll bet that's a happy thought for all those employed in retail, wholesale, transport and all the ancillary work like cleaning, building, electrical, plumbing etc. etc.

    Get a grip!

I m a little bit lost as to the comments being made after my first post

Unfortunately the Original Poster, was unable to understand my reply and decided to disscuss the Pros and Cons of buying items from overseas.

    Hi Avery,
Not going to get in any arguments about it, but the transport companies do get the business delivering it and were not importing building, electrical, plumbing etc as most, if not all of it isn't Australian approved and would be dangerous.
Just machines and tools that aren't locally made/available here.

I'm told that boatloads of tools out of China are made on machinery they import from Japan.

Great response, I knew I would get an answer if I baited the question. I understood your first reply Pipeclay, you just needed some more prodding and of course you supplied the answer.
