Joe- That is like saying That the net should be slowed down to the speed of the slowest provider, and we all put up with it.Well that aint going to happen
We are lucky enough today to have available, fast and reliable internet. It is upto the end user (us) to supply the equipment needed to receive the content we want to look at.
If you only want slow and not too good in the graphics department, then buy an old second hand computer with a dialup model. All very cheap.
Then if you want the best available.,pay your money, after you check with the providers that it is available in your area!
If you live in a part of the world that only has dialup,or that is all you can afford or want to spend. Maybe own a 10-15 year old computer and lucky enough that it still runs.
That is all fine, but it is no good trying to keep the rest of the internet back in the dark ages.
They don't make road rules to suit the oldest car on the road even though you can run it if it passes roadworthy for that age.
Most people seem to have a middle of the road computer and are happy. If they aren't they just go to the local computer shop to upgrade.Last month a friend of SHMBO ask me why his computer was taking so long to load things these days.
I said when did you defrag your drive last.I got a blank look.
I also ask what size drive was in it.He knew that,80 meg, meaning 80 gig.with a big smile, that was put in on the last upgrade a few years back.
I didnt want to know about it then,so I told him a place to go to.I got a phonecall a few days later from a very happy man. I had to get a bigger drive the other one needed defraging like you said, but it wasnt big enough for all the programs I run and all the photos I store on it. Yeh we all know other ways of getting around this problem, but he was happy .He took it home and said it was like a new one even though he was told he will need a new ond next time.
People dont realise or even need to know what happens in a computer ,but you need to have one capable of handling the things you want to do with it.It ain't someone elses fault.
Like a close friend of mine said yesterday. They (woodworkers we were talking about)
We will run out and buy a new bit of machinery because we need it to do a proper job.
but put up with an old computery ou can count the dots on the screen .I know one of them.He is happy with it and that is all that counts.
I Know -- I have carried on a bit but I have had my say
