    In the metal work fors ale dept there are some brass offcuts for sale. what does the 31.45 and 17.45 mean ( maybe a grade)

    I'm guessing it's the size in mm.

    1 1/4" and 11/16" at a guess...Brass is probably more common to be found in imperial sizes then metric sizes..

    Its hexagonal shaped brass ,he is talking about the width across the flats (AF) of the hex.
