Lightbulb Adding A Pic To Your Post

By all means, please feel free to post photos on this site. It's easily done. You need to have the photo on your computer then after you have finished typing in your message all you have to do is click Browse in the Attach file section above the Submit button.

Find the file on your computer and Robert's your mothers brother.

But for goodness sake please edit them first and make them a sensible size Max size 102kb or there abouts. Preferred file size AS SMALL AS POSSIBLE That doesn't mean that the picture has to be really small, just the file.

Cropping away needless oversized backgrounds so as to just include the object you want to show is always a big help. Saving as a .jpg file at 72 dpi is another way of reducing file size. Monitors don.t show any more than that resolution anyway so it is a waste of time and space posting a 600dpi pic.

Full image with needless background 25kb

Cropped image 23kb

Pics do not have to be as small as these, they are examples only

Have fun and show off your work etc. but use a bit of common sense.

Cheers - Neil.

Is it possible to post more than one pic at a time (that is, within the same frame)? If so, how?

Regards from Perth

To put more than on pic in a post you must be able to supply a link to a web address.

click on the IMG link above where you type your post and put in the link to the pic you wish to show. eg http://www.ubeaut.biz/eyepaper.gif will bring up this image:

http://www.ubeaut.biz/eyepurp.gif will bring up this image:

http://www.ubeaut.biz/eyewierd.gif will bring up this one:

and http://www.ubeaut.biz/eyesqr.gif will give you this:

To get these 4 images I had to click on the IMG button and fill in the required info 4 times. I could have done the same thing by simply typing [img] before the link address and (without the space between the g and the ]) after the link address for each pic.

Try clicking on the edit button bellow to see what the info in this post looks like and that should give you an idea what I am talking about.

Hope this is a bit clearer mud.

Cheers - Neil Lookout there's another one.

So, the images have to exist in an online photo album?

Yep, or on your own site, someone elses site (beware of copyright) or a host site, etc.

Most half decent service providers are happy to host a small site for you to store photos or home page etc. for free.

You will need an FTP program to upload the pics to the site and probably a decent photo editing program to keep the kb size down or you will quickly run out of storage space on your site.

I have posted a number of pics in the past, but now suddenly the normal method is not working for me. What am I doing wrong? Or is there a bug in the system at present?

So much for uploading, I recently tried to 'extract' a photo from BB post but couldn't find the actual attachment.

Can this be done and if so, How?

Like Rocker, I was unsuccessful in attaching a photo recently. I ended up having to create a link to the photo on a hosted page. (option 2)

Hi Ubeaut,

Just a thought if the disk space isn't the problem on the new server, make sure you have write permissions on the directory that's storing the pictures. Just a thought...

Unhappy

It appears to be a server problem of some sort happened after they switched servers on the 9th and so far we haven't been able to rectify it. We are trying.

It isn't a space problem we now have 150 meg of space more than ample. The write permissions are fine and everything else looks normal. However........???

Default Withdrawal symptoms

The trouble with this excellent forum is that some of us have become severely addicted to it. So, when one of its most important features doesn't work, we suffer severe withdrawal symptoms.

Of course, we have no right whatsoever to complain, since we do not contribute financially to its upkeep. But I just ask the gurus and geeks who are working on the restoration of the picture-posting feature to remember us poor addicts shivering and jibbering in the agony of going cold turkey, and to redouble their efforts to find a solution to the problem soon.

By the way, perhaps ubeaut should be charging the ISPs a commission; I have found that my excess charges for downloads have risen considerably since I became a member of the forum.

Question How to you reduce a photo in PSP 8

Hi all,

I've been using PSP for qucik and dirty copy and pasting pics for years but havn't needed to reduce the size beyond reducing to 2 colors.

I'm now onto Paint Shop Pro 8.

Anyone have a simple step by step process for reducing pics to a decent size for this forum using Paint Shop Pro 8?
Thanks,

Barry,

I have PSP 7. In that, you do Image>Resize, and then change the photo width to 15 cm, and hit OK

even threatened to set the wife on "IT", all to no avail.
Now I'm sure you learned people, have overcome the problem's of "IT",
so please pass on the info, and save an old guy from sinking in the
