We should not have to use an Add Blocker if Admin are on the ball. Being a member of Forums has its advantages ie no adds!

F12 gets you the debug window so you can see what is going on with the page and where content is coming from, you can see the highlighted information here

From a bit of a google they appear to be known as anchor ads configured at the site level

Agreed very annoying particularly as they overlay right on top of control links when viewing attached pictures.
This occurs when they do updates and the Admin crew forget to turn it off for members

Its all okay over on the woodies forum (WWF). Even reading the MWF thru there is okay....but f you follow the link to here you get adds

OK, they have disappeared from the above computer without any action on my part, but have appeared in full force on this computer which runs Win 10 and Chrome, or Ubuntu and either Chrome or Firefox. The ads are appearing on all the three combinations of o/s and browser. It's driving me crazy. Ads are from Google. I suspect if I install an ad blocker several other Google features which I use will stop working - this has happened before. It is only happening on this website. I have restarted the computer twice with no improvement.

    Any suggestions?

    Frank.

Spoke too soon. The ads have now reappeared on the original computer too.

Thought we might have got an official response from the forum by now.

I have a vertical line of adds at right of page that is about a quarter of the length of the page. To be honest I never really notice them unless I look across. Nothing at top or bottom of page. This is on Windows10 and Firefox.

Using Brave browser seems to stop them but keeps the side ads. Another advantage of Brave is that it blocks ads on YouTube.

Speaking for myself- but I'm sure there would be plenty of others- I'm not about to start using different browsers / firewalls / whatever just to use this forum. I'm more likely just to not use the forum. I don't have this problem with any other forum I use unless I'm not logged in, then all this crap disappears. At present I'm only coming here to view replies to my own posts or to see if anything has been done about these ads; I can't even scroll through pictures because the ads cover the buttons.

    Yep but
Lets just persevere as I am sure its just an error that can be rectified.

But the lack of any comment or reply from Admin can only be considered poor customer relations.

Has anyone reported this? Admin can't comment/fix if they don't know about it.

Surely the admins read the forum?! This thread has been up for 9 days.
