Default PM screen - not quite right.

It appears all is not well with the PM code in the forum.
After clicking on the button to send or reply to a PM the screen stays blank rather than displaying the "message sent" page.
If you refresh the screen it warns that the form will be resubmitted and then shows the page that warns that the same message cannot new sent within 60 seconds.
The original sent message is in the "sent" folder so presumably has been issued.

And the same thing happens when adding a post.

But not when replying to a post it would appear.
If it helps the techs, a Wireshark trace shows the server issuing a 500 error and then the server end drops the TCP connection.

Thanks Gavin, this shouldn't be happening anymore. For a couple of days we ran the site on PHP 7, however some outdated plugins caused the white screen issue. We've got hold of updates and will apply them once i've sorted a couple of other things.

Yep, PHP7 has broken some features that have been deprecated since 5.x (and earlier) - there's a lot of old code out there that will find life interesting under 7.0. Good luck.
