    Default Metalwork site security

If you are having problems with pictures, PM's and other stuff, on this forum here is the best current fix.

    Login to this site http://www.metalworkforums.com

Note: Do not use https as there are a number of problems associated with it that are taking a long time to iron out.

This site is safe even in http mode and in http mode everything works.

All sensitive or personal material is kept on a secure encrypted, password protected, hidden section of the forums.

Unsafe things are posting your email address or other personal information you don't want the world to know about.

Certain browsers will give you a "Not secure" message this is mostly reserved for sites where you have to login to make payments etc.

Metalwork Forums and Woodwork Forums are served over HTTP because they don't involve passing sensitive information back and forth and do not need to be fully secured. A bank or other site that handles your personal information needs to be fully secure https meaning that your connection is authenticated and encrypted, hence safeguarded from eavesdroppers and man-in-the-middle attacks.

However.... In line with current browser needs we integrated https some time back, but it still needs a lot of extra work to make it fully secure by browser standards.

We are working on it and will advise when HTTPS is fully integrated and fully usable on these forums.

    Cheers - Neil
