Default 3D modelling the easy way

I've got a project underway and plan to use a 1:1 drive using HTD5 timing belt and pulleys - first port of call was Ebay to see what was being offered, would anything there suit ? a fruitless hour later I thought, I've got a cnc mill why not make them, which led me to this youtube video, creating a traceparts account was easy and 5m min later I had my pulley on the fusion360 screen, another 5min to make a few changes and it was ready for 3D printing or machining, well worth a look, not only for pulleys but any mechanical or electrical part you may need to model.

    Nice one.

I've been designing a range of Bell Mouth hoods for dust extraction - I've only printed a couple.
Because they have a 3D curved surface finish is an issue - still working on those.
I'll post some pics in another thread.

    Hi, FamilyGuy,

Thank for your interesting post. Since I'm about to start designing a small pulley like the one in your picture to drive the toothed belt for my stone tumbler project. In my case I propose to machine it out of aluminium rod or Acetal plastic bar. It will be designed to fit on a 6 mm diameter shaft and about 16 to 18 mm diameter, probably around 6 mm thick.

I'll post the drawing in the "Pebble Tumbler" thread along with pictures.
    Best Regards:
    Baron J.

If you can't make Gilmer belt style pulleys Small Parts & RS Components have an excellent range along with belts to suit.
