Default Using a Dynabolt for an expanding tool

The other day I had a need for a puller to remove a blind pilot bearing from a crankshaft.
For plain bushes I normally just pack the bore and use a close fitting punch to hydraulic the bus out - but this one was a needle roller bearing with a closed back.

After a quick head scratch I ended up with this arrangement to expand behind the needle rollers of the bearing.
I used the inner part of 10mm dynabolt to do the expanding. They are a decent grade of steel and already have a thread on one end and a taper on the other.
I didn’t even bother to match the taper on the matching part of the tool - just made decent 45deg internal chamfer.

Same concept could be used for various other expanding grip applications.
