    Thumbs up Posting Pictures !

    Hi Guys,

It surprises me just how many people post pictures that appear on their side or even upside down rather than in the correct orientation. Solving this issue is quite simple but does require that you are able to edit the picture that you want to post.

The technique that I use is to set the picture the correct way round in my editing program and then just crop the edges off. Then save the cropped picture over the top of the original and then you can post the picture and it will be the proper way round.

What this technique does is it removes the EXIF data saved with the picture preventing the forum software using it and orienting the picture wrongly.
    Best Regards:

Photoscape allows you to do all this and much more easily.

yep i've had a few problems with it lately i.e if i take a portrait photo and post up on here it goes sideways even after cropping it on the phone , when uploading the pic in the thumbnails it shows correct orientation but displays it sideways. I've had to retake the same photos again in landscape mode so they show it the correct way up.

    Hi Guys,

Following Iron Triangle's post I tried to edit and crop a picture on my wife’s smart phone ! It seems that the smart phone retains the EXIF data even after editing !

I had to download the picture to my computer and edit it there to remove the EXIF information ! Discovering this left me wondering if this was part of the reason why so many people had trouble with picture orientation.

Misbehaving images can often be fixed by taking a screenshot (PrintScrn key on your keyboard) of it when it looks OK on your monitor.
Then you can save it as a new JPG.
