Removing a stuck Drill chuck !
Hi Guys,
A very useful technique for removing a drill chuck from a MT arbour !
The normal way that the JT chuck taper on a MT arbour is removed is to open the chuck jaws and drill a hole in the back of the chuck body and then knock the arbour out with a punch.
When drilling the back of the chuck, you will know when you have drilled through when the drill breaks into the cavity under the arbour. Support the chuck on vise jaws or blocks and give the punch a smack with a hammer, the arbour will fall out.Best Regards:
Baron J.
