    Default Flywheel on horzontal Mill

I was on the Sandvik website today and learned an interesting fact, when using a side and face cutter on horizontal mill you get a lot of vibration when cutting because only a couple of teeth are engaged. They suggest to dampen this vibration, make as large as possibly flywheel to go on the cutter arbor, as close as possible to cutter. Will try that tomorrow and see how effective it is.

    Hi Countersales, Guys,

This was the rational behind the fly cutters that I have made ! Also lack of out of balance components, meaning no vibration like a conventional one. No deflection either, it takes a lot to bend a 20 mm shaft and 20 mm disc.

So yes the flywheel effect is useful !
