Default DIY gaskets with accurately positioned bolt holes

I needed to make a gasket for this wet clutch pressure plate (16 x 5/16" bolts) and tried an idea I recently saw elsewhere. I punched the gasket holes directly through the bolt holes using a quickie home made hole punch. I made the punch (with parallel sides and an internal taper) .1mm smaller than the bolt holes, worked a treat.

I've done similar but using a small ball pein hammer. Use the ball end to punch a hole, drop in a bolt of the correct size to locate the gasket, on the opposite side, punch another hole drop in another bolt, then work your way around the perimiter.
