Setting the height of a slotting saw in the mill
I'm making a handful of slotted raised head countersunk screws out of stainless M6 hex set screws, for the slotting operation (1mm slot) I'm holding the screws horizontally in an ER32 collet block. I don't have a DRO on my Z axis.
To set the saw height I turned the end of a piece of M6 booker rod down to 1mm and put the rod in the collet block. From there I was able to eyeball the saw to the same height as the 1mm pimple and I've ended up with screw heads with a centrally located slot.
