    Default motor noise

I found the cause of faint scraping noise coming from my lathe motor, the remains of a mummified mouse, some Ratsak and the nest!
I also discovered why it tripped the RCD, corroded earth wire poked into one of the phase wires.
Probably not too bad considering the wiring hasn't been looked at since the 1960s.

Time for a little TLC, cleaned it all, repacked bearings, new heatshrink and tomorrow I'll replace the wiring between the switchgear and the motor.
Runs very well considering it's age.

    Hi Guys,

One of the original "Brooks Motors" made in Huddersfield UK !

I've not seen a "Cub" in maybe 50 years or more ! A good solid motor, very heavy for its power output.

The graphic at the bottom left on the first page is actually an image of the original pre=war Empress works. They later took over some derelict property on the same street in order to expand the works. Mainly warehousing I believe. Then they added some new production faculties in "Doncaster" which doubled the production ability.
    Best Regards:

Not sure that I'd like to be near it if it had the Hi-Low pulley running at top speed!
